Music became an integral part of Cherry Blue very quickly. Music has always been incredibly important to our founder Ruby Weston, who spent much of her childhood having dance parties with her mom in their apartment in the Lower East Side (their favorite song was Clearest Blue, and still is). The question of how to incorporate music into a printed publication was one that Weston had to grapple with when starting the magazine. So, she decided to print song lyrics, and began making playlists at the beginning of the process of designing each issue, which she then solely listens to during the creative process. Despite the fact that Weston independently works on the creative direction and editing, the artists and songs of the playlists definitely lend her a hand and offer some inspiration. These playlists are listed below!

When planning the launch parties for Cherry Blue, Weston decided to involve bands of young musicians to share their music and play for the crowd. Their set lists are included below to spotlight some of the incredible artists. Having bands play at the launches brings together the contributors and allows the inclusion of one of the most significant and impactful art forms!
