OUR INSPIRATioN

We want you to experience the roots of Cherry Blue, which is learned through exploring what inspired us. The playlists below are the playlists Weston listened to while developing each magazine. Also included are important figures, and important media that influenced the making of Cherry Blue.

  • Marina Abromovíc

    Our founder was inspired by her comprehensive show in Amsterdam of April, 2024. She is a performance artist and revolutionary. In her work, Abromovíc explores the relationship between the viewer and the audience, and the limitations of the mind and body. Thank you, Marina. Image credits; MOMA.

  • ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND

    A practically physchidelqic film exploring the relationship between two lovers. Heart breaking, and hopeful. Rumor has it, Cherry Blue also refers to the color of Clementine’s hair. And the Montauk snow scene will always haunt these pages. Image credits; IMBD.

  • Clarice Lispector

    At the beginning of this project, our founder read Água Viva (the left corner of the mouth). Clarice Lispector was one of the most influential writers of the 21st century, completely reshaping the way in which we conceive of prose and the limitations of language.   • Penny Arcade

    A poet, a performer, a force, a legend, and our founder’s first babysitter. Her work has influenced generations, and watching her perform feels like being invited to a special club.   • Virginia Woolf

    The obsession with Woolf began in 2022. She was a visionary, a feminist, and a masterful prose writer. To The Lighthouse is one of the most beautiful books ever written, it captures the mundane in all it’s glory. Thank you, Virginia. Image credits; Sothebys

  • Barbara Hammond

    A playwright, a film maker, a poet, an artist. Her work reaches far, and her mind even farther. Cherry Blue tried to make her proud. Thank you for your time. Thank you for your light. Thank you for the magic, Barbara.

  • The Way we were

    It’s hard to describe this one without having seen it. Our founder shares a birthday with Streisand, and was touched by the film. In short, “your girl is lovely, Hubble.” A part of understanding the importance of “stolen” things in Cherry Blue. Image credits; IMBD
